Bonjour tout le monde!
I hope everybody had a lovely week and is enjoying this nice weather.
Last Sunday, I went on a little trip to London to see The 1975's gig at the Garage, organised by War Child. Yes, I travelled from Dublin to London just to see this band ( see how a music lover I am..). I spent most of my Sunday in Central London and in the evening, I watched a movie called "A Private War" ( and I advise everybody to see it).
ANYWAY. On Monday morning, I woke up super early ( 5am) and started to queue around 7am (16 people were already in the queue. The Waitrose next to the venue kindly offered us some food, as we were waiting in the rain. Around 1pm, one of Matty's staff gave us a wristband ( with a number) and told us to come back around 6:30pm ( which I thought was a great idea, instead of waiting all day). We went to a lovely vegan restaurant called VX London (that serve junk food, If any of you is interested, here is the link, there are also on delivroo, which is awesome).
We went back to the venue around 6:15pm. Everybody with a number on the wristband was in a different line and one of the staff checked If every number was in order. The capacity of the venue was 600 people. The first part of the gig was Beabadoobee (who signed to the 1975 record label, the Dirty Hit). Her songs are so chill. It's only her and her guitar. Her voice is lovely. You should definitely give a listen!
Then someone from War Child introduced us to someone who was basically saved by the organization.
Then, came The 1975.
The room was packed. Everybody was on each other, lol. They started their set with Give Yourself A Try. They sang a couple of songs on their new albums ( TOOTIME, Love It If We Made It, I Like America And America Likes Me, It's Not Living (If It's Not With You..)
They also sang old songs from their old albums (Somebody Else, Robbers, Heart Out, The Sound, Menswear..)
Thanks to War Child, It was amazing to see The 1975 playing new as well as old songs. It was really hard to breathe because everybody was on each other. But everybody sang along. As I was in the second row, I had a pretty good view of Matty. Matty was interacting with the crowd all the time, giving shout out to people he recognised in the crowd, touching hands of people...
Certainly giving five stars. Thanks to War Child!
